1:10:05 :: 10 miles

Easy run. Felt surprisingly slow today. Usually I perk up the day after some quicker work, and I thought dropping 3-5 miles off the long run would leave me feeling a little more fresh than it did. Maybe just an off day.

I've done quite a few runs like these (mostly 10 seconds slower across the board), and it took three or four before I started feeling good a day or two after. In my case running faster after a three mile warm up had me recovering much quicker than running faster after 10 or 14 miles. I say give it a little time.

I've also started judging my recovery by how I feel two days after a workout, instead of the next day. I think I can run through some fatigue for one day, but by the next the body really lets me know what's going on.

What, nothing about the weather?

Ah, the weather. It has been 5-15 above zero with relatively calm winds. In a word, it has been beautiful. In three words, beautiful running weather.

After three weeks with daily high temperatures below zero, ten above feels like a beach party. That's the only good thing about nasty cold weather.
