2:21:00 :: 22.5 miles

Long run. Another good one. Weather was fine, a bit on the cool side at 25F, with a gusting 15mph wind. Took a gel around 13 miles. Felt fatigue starting to creep in at 17-18 miles, but never overcooked, which is different than normal. Break it down...

hi, impressive long run.

What is your target pace for the marathon ? you look like in 5'50"/M shape..

Grazie.

I haven't thought about a target pace yet, as I don't know what my fitness will be like in six weeks. Once I complete this block of training and get through the taper, Mystery Coach and I will see where we're at.

Grazie per la domanda!

due to your proficiency in italian, I may drop English for the next commentc.
Anyway my further question is: what was your HR (as %Max) during this excellent long run ?

Mi despiace, non parlo bene l'Italiano. =) I have been trying to figure out where you were from, and then I saw a week or two ago that you responded to a commenter in Italian. I thought I'd try in my response.

I enjoy *trying* to speak/write a little bit in other languages, but I've never learned another well enough to converse. Japanese is my latest obsession...

Anyway, my maxHR last year was 178, so it should be in that same area now. My average HR on the run was 146, so that gives ~82% of maxHR.

These runs by themselves are not that difficult. It's the accumulation of fatigue over the two or three day period that adds up and creates the physiological stress. It's the Mystery Coach signature workout. Sort of.

Salute!

toying with different languages is our family´s favourite game...
because of a myriad of education/work/family related issues, we (at home) speak 5 languages... (not japanese)
so I will spice up the blog for you with some good link to running related articles/sites in other languages

Some Aussie language for youse: That run was a corker Eric, but 25F ain't 'ot enough to overcook nothin'. If you were runnin' down 'ere you'd be drier than a dead dingo's donger.
