Easy run with speed. On the treadmill, added 600-400-400-200/200, one segment every 15 minutes, 5:00 pace with varying incline up to 6%, and easy running around 6:45 pace average. Felt really good today. Speed was smooth, stride was powerful--everything seemed to click.

How many more weeks of training do you have left (with your minimalist approach I've lost count)?
Has you build this year been any different than last, i.e. did you come away from the race wishing you'd done "x"?
Good luck.
I have about 7 full weeks, plus a few days, before the race (May 17), so it's won't be long before I'm starting the taper. Kinda scary when I think about it that way.
I came away from the race thinking about two things: 1. what would have happened if I had gotten my last bottle, and 2. what would have happened if I had dressed for the conditions.
Otherwise, I knew I was short on experience and I was approaching the race very conservatively. The only way to get experience is to, uh, get experience, and it was by my own choices that I limited that experience, and the conservative approach was a choice, so if I were to wish for those factors to be different, it would be kind of silly.
As far as the build, it has been very similar, nearly workout for workout, but the results have been better. More efficient in the recoveries, and generally feeling much stronger at the same training loads and speeds. Mileage has been lower, and the weather was consistently more difficult this time around, which affected my motivation quite a lot. Again, I would like to wish I had sucked it up a lot more often this winter, but, it was a choice. I'll do the best I can with what I have, and make better choices the next time around.
Thanks for the question! A good one.
Interesting Eric. If the results have been better, workout for workout, wouldn't you be expecting a faster race, even with the lower mileage?
By the way, I think you've been sucking it up pretty well considering the indecent weather you've had to deal with!
